How to exhibit

If you would like to exhibit your artwork at The Upstairs Gallery. Please take the time to read through this information in full to become familiar with how The Upstairs Gallery works as a gallery space and to clarify what we can offer you.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01502 717191.

The Upstairs Gallery is based on 1st and 2nd floors of Lloyds Bank, in the central area of Beccles, opposite the very popular Twyfords Café and Patisserie.

Beccles is a busy market town, as we have a variety of outlets that are unique, some wonderful shopping facilities, and a thriving tourism industry as we are on the tip of the southern broads. Many people visit Beccles year after year. A loading bay operates just in front of the gallery premises, and this is where all the mystery shop tours from all over the UK, drops visitors off to visit our lovely town.

Hanging takes place from 10am on the day of the exhibition starting and you are responsible for the physical hanging of your art work.

Our hanging systems are very simple to use. We suggest you set up your display, and then gallery staff will help or tweak if you would like assistance. We use the gallery rail system with perlon cables and hanging hooks. Please have your work wired/strung ready to hang.

If you would like to talk through the hanging of your works before the exhibition then please come and visit the gallery and one of our volunteers will assist you.

We have limited storage space

All art protectors/packaging must be removed before the exhibition begins, this is for the safety of the public and yourselves. Floors must be cleared and no packaging or artwork, ladders etc., must be left on the stairs, the gallery space or in the The Upstairs Galleried rooms.

When taking down your work it is once again your responsibility to leave the hanging system neat and clear of any remaining cord, also to clear excess rubbish/packaging etc. so the area is left clean for the next incoming artists.
