Pia Zocca

Pia Zocca was born in Italy and studied art at the Scuola dell@ Arte, Verona.

She’s widely travelled and has lived and worked in many countries including Brazil, USA, South Africa, Malawi, Holland and Belgium.

Her artistic creativity consists of working with a different media but glass is wat Pia finds most inspiring and fulfilling. This preference stems from her attraction not only to the amazing colours, but also to the different possible textures of glass.

She uses the medium to create sculptures that are reminiscent of buildings and towers with an organic feeling. A mariage of contrasts, light and darkness, ancient and modern, is so typical for the medium. Equally challenging is also the paradoxical concept of something that can be resilient and timeless and yet as fragile as glass.
